What Is Intuitive Eating?
Intuitive eating is a weight neutral, evidence-based alternative to dieting. Based on ten principles, intuitive eating teaches you to respond to your body’s cues of hunger & satiety. It also helps you feel peaceful around all kinds of foods. Yup, even cake. And pizza.
So you won’t end up sneaking cookies when no one’s looking.
Benefits of Intuitive Eating
Over 90 studies of intuitive eating demonstrate benefits such as:
- Reduced emotional eating
- Increased wellbeing
- Lower risk of eating disorders
- Improved blood sugar and cholesterol levels
- Less guilt and shame over eating
- Fewer binge episodes
- More stable weight (Although intuitive eating is associated with a lower BMI, it is not a weight loss plan.)
It is possible to have a more positive relationship with food and your body – no matter how many diets, eaing plans, and other things you’ve tried in the past.
As great as intuitive eating is, it can be a challenge to adopt on your own. That’s the power of mentorship! The Intuitive Eating Mentoring Group is a way to have your questions answered, and receive personalized support and mentoring.
Your facilitator, Barbara Spanjers, is a wellness coach and licensed therapist with experience treating eating disorders and body image.
